To dress up or to dress down? That is the question. Dress for comfort; that is the answer. Many of you dress up on a particular occasion when it only calls for casual wear or dressing down anyways. Worse is when you dress according to what society dictates without considering the time and type of event even up to the point of sacrificing your own comfort.

Keeping up with the trend will not always work as there are clothing styles and designs that will not look fashionable on you and are only better to looked at on other people. Find out how you can dress up or dress down by avoiding a fashion mishap.

1. Dress codes are no-brainers for someone who has already found the clothing style that looks good on them. Dress codes will provide a list of what is accepted within a certain company. This dress code policy is more commonly referred as corporate attire and will be appreciated by many of your colleagues if you set aside most of the striking and startling colors from your office apparel. There is always a right time to wear them and doing so will mean giving yourself a big favor. Corporate attire is standardized across all department employees and the likes of slacks, short sleeves and collared polo for men is recommended. Women are advised to wear skirts or even slacks with a fitting blouse that will allow them to move liberally. Closed toe shoes are a must.

2. A pair of denims and a cotton shirt or a blouse made of wool to keep you warm can certainly be the “any-day” attire. It is best during a lunch date with friends to one of the restaurants nearby, a walk along the streets if you just plan to get coffee or to quickly accomplish an errand from the grocery. It doesn't call for a special occasion to don in denims especially jeans because of how flexible these can be. Jeans can look hot even when you plan to party the night away.

3. If you plan to go clubbing for the rest of your weekend, be chic by slipping on a black mini dress to show off a little skin. Pair it with a wedge of a similar color to make your legs appear longer plus tote along a bag of a different color from your ensemble's theme color. That purse will make the statement for the evening.

4. A lightweight and light colored dress can be worn during a day event or say, in the middle of the day. Avoid startling colors and superfluous designs that will make you look heavy or tiered because you might look like a flower girl instead. Opt for minimal designs and sharp cuts that will flatter your figure. The simpler the, better it is then. Use accessories that won't steal the attention from your dress but instead complement your attire.
