It's not that you're no fan of boxing that you should wear something below the belt. Check out the following list of the most common below-the-belt apparel. • SKIRT. Generally, this apparel is worn by females. However, there are few exceptions wherein males wear one too. One example is the kilt popularized in Mel Gibson's “Brave Heart.” From the conservative long skirts typical of old-school marms to the more liberated short pieces sported in the modern era, this below-the-belt apparel has been a favorite across generations. It also comes in a variety of cuts and styles: mini and micro skirts, A-line skirts, pencil skirts, flowing skirts and denim skirts, to name a few. • TROUSERS. Calling a pair “pants” will do okay, but may cause some confusion regarding the length. Trousers connote the full stretch of the apparel, which completely encloses each leg. Like the skirt, this below-the-belt piece continues to see the best of its days throughout generations. However, it is an apparel item that is typically worn by men. The fabrics tailored for trousers include khaki, cotton and corduroy, but what's popular nowadays are denims. The cuts likewise vary: straight, tapered, baggy or skinny, for instance. • SHORTS. Shorts are actually “short pants” as this below-the-belt apparel piece lacks the full stretch of trousers. Shorts can be knee length or they can sit way above the knee. A pair or two is perfect for strenuous and physical activities that entail sweating: hiking, jogging, wall scaling or even just camping. Shorts provide the body with conservative leg coverage and maximum comfort and breathing room. This piece used to be typically just a day wear exclusive for boys, but presently, both males and females – regardless of their age – don a pair, especially during the summer months. • PAJAMAS. Technically, PJs are still “long pants” but their main difference from trousers is that while trousers are worn for day-to-day happenings at the office, school or party places, pajamas are worn at night time and inside the comfort of the home. Pajama cuts are basically the same: straight and simple, aiming for maximum comfort and mobility in bed. The prints, on the other hand, may vary: stripes, checks or dots, for example. Men, women, boys and girls alike can wear pajamas. • LEGGINGS. Leggings are actually mid-size pants – shorter than a pair of trousers and longer than a pair of shorts. Although they are sometimes used as undergarment during cooler months, they are for the most times intended for outerwear. Cyclists and joggers particularly sport the nylon variety which clings to their legs during intense physical workout. Fashionable ladies usually don the non-nylon variety on casual affairs. Such variety is fondly called by most as capri pants. Which piece is your favorite: a skirt, a pair of trousers, a pair of shorts, some pajamas or some leggings? Take your pick. Note that the list is not comprehensive, however. In fact, the variations are myriad, so enjoy dressing up that area that's just way below the belt as much as you can. |
