Eleven Swimwear Care Tips

Your swimsuit comes in contact with a lot of things like saltwater, chlorine, lotions and many more. So, it is important for you to take care of it. Here are some swimwear care tips that can be helpful in prolonging your suit's life.

1. Not everyone has the chance to go to the beach so they will most likely end up splashing in the pool. Of course, at the beach you would surely opt to wear your new swimsuit. But before you go splashing in the water, do not forget to shower first. Soaking your swimsuit in clear water will prevent it from absorbing too much chlorine. Keep in mind that chlorine can damage your swimwear's fabric.

2. When swimming, avoid staying close to rough surfaces like the edge of the pool or sitting on a rock at the beach. The abrasive surfaces can snag on your bikini top and bottom which can affect its overall look.

3. When you are done swimming either from the pool or from the beach, do not forget to rinse your swimwear. Rinsing will help remove all the chlorine and salt that had come in contact with your swimwear.

4. Do not use bleach when washing your swimwear. Bleaches contain harmful ingredients that can damage your suit. If possible, use a detergent or cleaner that is made especially for swimsuits and other type of swimwear because it has the capacity to neutralize the chemicals and keep it from damaging the fibers of your swimsuit.

5. If you used a new suit, it is best if you wash it separately. Some fabrics used for swimwear have the tendency to bleed so to keep it from staining the rest of your laundry, wash it separately. No need to worry though because the bleeding will eventually stop.

6. Do not machine wash your swimwear because this can loosen the fabrics and damage the fibers. Always hand wash your swimwear after you used it.

7. Do not wring it when getting the excess water out. Instead roll it on clean towel and then squeeze the excess water out.

8. Air dry your swimwear in a shaded are. Do not expose it to extreme heat because heat can damage it. In addition, avoid wearing your suit in a sauna or hot tub. These suits are not made to endure the extreme heat.

9. Avoid oil from getting in contact with your swimwear because oil does not only stain your suit, it is also harmful for it. Furthermore, avoid using oil based sun tan lotion.

10. When your suit gets stained, remove it by working from the inside pushing the stain out. If you rub the stain into the suit it might be harder to remove.

11. Always dry your suit before storing it because moisture does not only make the fibers weak it can also result to foul smelling swimwear.

You should care for your swimwear in the same way that you care for your lingerie. Swimsuits although stretchy and thick are also delicate.
