We must admit that lingerie doesn't come cheap and high quality lingerie can be very pricey. Here are some lingerie storing guidelines you should know. 1. Do not dump your lingerie. Oftentimes, we are too tired even to take the extra step of placing our lingerie in its proper place. Due to this, we end up throwing them or dumping them in a rather full drawer. Such a practice is not advisable because the fibers can get snagged on rough edges. Dumping it in a full drawer is also not advisable especially with your brassieres because this can deform the cups and it can end up looking bumpy. 2. Keep your lingerie dry as possible. Before you stuff them into the drawer, make sure that these are dry. Storing lingerie when these are still even a bit damp does not only result to foul odor, it also weakens the fibers. Weakened fibers in lingerie can affect its adequacy to provide support. It can result to saggy brassieres and panties. In addition, weakened fibers can affect the durability and shorten the lifespan of your beloved lingerie. 3. If you are fond of underwire bras and have tons of them but have little space, well you need not worry as you can always fold it in the middle. Although it has been said that bras should be laid flat when storing them, underwire bras are an exception. 4. If you have padded cups, it is advisable if you lay them flat when storing them. These types of bras have to be laid flat to keep the pads from bunching up. In addition, it also helps the bra retain its shape. Wearing bras with deformed pads are not good to look at because the bulge and bunches will show even if you are wearing a loose shirt. 5. If you have corsets or bustiers, do not ever fold them. If you do, you will surely damage the boning. The boning is the stiff material that gives the corset and bustier its shape. To store this type of lingerie, roll them lengthwise as doing so will not damage the boning and the corset or bustier will be able to retain its shape once you spread it. 6. If possible, have a separate space where you can store your lingerie. Doing this will allow you to keep your lingerie and arrange them accordingly. The space should be spacious enough especially if you have a lot of padded bras because you will have to spread them out when you store them. In addition, enough space will keep the lingerie from crowding rather than ending up damaged and misshapen. 7. Do not ever iron your lingerie especially those types which are garterized. If you do, it will result to the garter losing its elasticity and you will end up with saggy lingerie. In addition, the materials used to create our usual clothing are not the same with the materials used to make lingerie that is why ironing is not a good idea. Not only will you end up with saggy lingerie but you can also end up with a burnt one as well. |
